Summer Wanderweg: Favorite Hiking Trails of 2025

This is my seventh summer of hiking in Switzerland - and so far, it’s the hottest one yet. We all just sweated through, if not the hottest June on record, then definitely the hottest June I’ve experienced here. Almost three weeks straight of daily 30 degree Celsius days. It’s hard to complain about because I wait all year for these wonderful and all-too-fleeting summer months, but I have to admit, the relentless heat has been tough. Thank goodness for all of the lakes and rivers!

So, here we are on July 1st, with my favorite hiking trails of summer 2025! As always, I’ll be adding to this post as I hike. There’s a brief summary of each trail, but you can click on any of them for a more detailed description.

The hike to Rigi Hochflue is a challenging yet rewarding adventure, with technical T4 to T5 terrain and stunning panoramic views over Central Switzerland. Its relatively low elevation also makes it an ideal spring training hike, and despite the demanding route, it's surprisingly popular on sunny weekends - proof that the scenery and experience are well worth it.
